My name is Kareem, and I am starting this fundraiser for my close friend George and his family in Jamaica. George was born and raised in Portmore and now lives in Montego Bay. He is one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever meet. He has always been there for others, and now it is time for us to be there for him and for his community.

Late last year, Hurricane Melissa caused serious damage across parts of Jamaica, including where George and his family live. Their home was badly affected by the storm, leaving parts of it unsafe, exposed, and in urgent need of repair. Like so many families across the island, they were left dealing with the aftermath with very limited support and resources. This fundraiser exists because they should not have to face this alone.

My plan is not just to fix one home, but to create something that can grow into a model for helping others across Jamaica as well. We want to rebuild, repair, and improve George’s family home properly, using skilled tradesmen and good quality materials, so that it is safe, strong, and built to last.

The funds raised through this GoFundMe will be used in a transparent and practical way. A portion will go toward materials such as timber, cement, roofing, electrical and plumbing supplies, and anything else required to rebuild and upgrade the property. Another portion will be used to pay skilled local tradesmen and labourers fairly for their work. We also plan to bring in additional skilled workers where needed, and some of the funds will cover accommodation, food, and transport for those tradesmen while they are working on the project.

This is not about cutting corners or doing temporary fixes. This is about doing things properly, creating safe homes, and showing that when people come together, real change is possible. By starting with George and his family, we can create a blueprint that can be used to help other families in Jamaica who are living in similar conditions. Every home rebuilt means a family gets stability, dignity, and a better future.

This project is rooted in respect for the people of Jamaica. We want to use local workers, support local businesses, and keep as much of the money in the community as possible. The goal is not just to rebuild buildings, but to uplift people, create jobs, and bring hope.

Every donation, no matter how small, moves us closer to making this happen. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser also makes a huge difference. Together, we can help George and his family, and in doing so, start something that can spread across Jamaica and change lives.

Our limit of £12,000 is just a start point, we’d love this number to expand to really help improve the infrastructure and the community. Millions of pounds have claimed to be sent over to Jamaica but people like George in his community aren’t seeing this come into play.

Let us help the kind people of Jamaica. Together we can make a difference .
