Mollie is an 7 1/2 year old chihuahua mix, up until this point she has been very happy & healthy. I have owned her since she was 8 weeks old when I got her I was in the mists of deep depression and at my lowest. Mollie was my angel and still very much so is. Mollie became I'll on June 21st with a bump on her neck since then she has had blood work, an xray , and an ultra sound which showed swelling. During an oral exam where no foreign objects were found an abcess surgery was performed where deep dead tissue was also found in her face and neck after the abcess removal surgery she still needed help. Mollie recieved a ct scan that found massive swelling and that the surgery for abcess had dead tissue and it was not healing even with being on steroids and antibiotics for weeks. She also had a culture and biopsy once the results came in from the culture it showed whatever is going on with her was resistant to all the antibiotics she's been on. A new treatment plan was formed and it began killing the infection but the tissue is dead and so bad it's down to the skull and has damaged facial muscle.
Every donation before today July 26th has helped with those treatments. Today she had a surgery to remove the necrotic tissue but she will need more and facial reconstruction due to the severity of the damage. Anything helps were trying so hard to fight for her but as of now the vet bills have been in the $7000 range and we're afraid we cant help her due to money.
Please anything helps.
As of today she is doing very well eating and drinking were just in a place where bandage changes at $140.25 every other day are mandatory and so is a facial surgery in the future.
August 14th Mollie had facial surgery chiseling $2800 which seemed great but as of August 23rd we find out it didn't take. We're devastated but but not giving up. Her spirits are high she has a wonderful attitude and is eating more and gaining weight. We're just trying to fix her wound. Praying for answers and a fix for her.
She is currently being treated by the VCA West Coast Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital by Dr Kim in the surgery department.
