Were you at Spot Welders the morning Gracie jumped out of Carolina's car on the way to work? Carolina was frantic and retraced her steps all the way back to her apartment, to find Gracie waiting at the door of the garage. GRACIE FOUND HER WAY HOME THROUGH MILES OF STRANGE STREETS, LOUD NOISES, AND SCARY STRANGERS. Some people at work that morning doubted the story--maybe Gracie was sitting by the garage the whole time--but NO. If you saw her that morning, you would never forget Gracie's attitude when Carolina brought her safely to work. The dog ran around, seeking approval from every person there: wasn't I good dog??? LOOK AT ME I AM A SUPERHERO!!! She ran around the whole place, tail wagging like crazy, and I have never seen such adrenaline. Gracie is SO damn smart. She's one of those special animals who have a super-human level of understanding and sensitivity. I love her.
So that's why I'm writing to you today: Gracie has been in the hospital since the early hours of the morning, brought to the ER because of a choking episode as she struggled to breathe all last night. GRACIE IS STABLE NOW, but still in the hospital. The doctors are vague, surmising it might be something in her right nasal passage, but they need to do more tests. She has already had a rhinoscopy, a CT scan, and she was anesthetized for those. All those costs add up, and as a fellow pet owner, I know that we never ever want to be put in the position of having to deny our loved ones necessary medical care because we can't afford it.
Please, every dollar helps. If every friend gave $10, that would put a huge dent in the medical bills. Any funds received in excess of Gracie's medical necessity will be donated the The Gentle Barn, a wonderful organization teaching people kindness and compassion to animals, each other and our planet.
Let's come together and show Gracie some love.
