Alan James & Family

A bright smile, a friendly wave, or a witty welcome are all ways that we have come to know and love Alan James. He is quite literally the man that will give you the shirt off of his back, pick up your child to include them in a fun adventure, and invite you into his home for a cold drink and warm meal.

As many of you may know, Alan has been recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and in the coming days and weeks, will be going through a journey of medical appointments, procedures, and recovery. The family is grateful to have some of the best care providers accompanying them throughout what is believed to be part of the glioblastoma group of tumors, with Memorial Sloan Kettering NYC serving as the main point of care.

Starting on Wednesday, September 14th, Alan will undergo a series of pre-operative tests to determine the location and potential impact of the tumor, followed by a lengthy surgery tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 20 at Sloan Kettering in New York City. This will be followed by at least 2-3 days of in-patient recovery. Understandably details and times may shift as the course of care progresses.

The family is enormously grateful for the outpouring of support from the entire community of family and friends, along with the multitude of check-ins, drop-bys, and words of encouragement.

As this care journey begins, understandably, there are already many medical costs that will continue to increase. While insurance will cover a small portion of these, disability is very limited, and the expenses will continue to rise.

This forum serves as an opportunity for family and friends to offer support through financial contributions during this time, with all proceeds going directly to the family. While so many have reached out with care and concern on how they help, we ask that a contribution is provided as this will be the absolute best way to assist Alan, Lin, and their 3 children.
