My name is Karlene Roberts and I raised money on here to put on an event called Letters to My Mother on 5th March 2016.

‘Letters to my Mother’ is what I call a social exhibition that displays, celebrates, honours and remembers the lives of Mothers and Mother figures that are no longer on the planet with us through letters, pictures, music and conversation. 

I used the  money to hire a venue, produce the exhibition side of the event (mainly design and printing), to create a writing station, cart all items all over london and to provide food refreshments for everybody there.

I created this event to honour the life of my Mother who was murdered on December 25th 1985. Although this to honour her it's not about her. I wrote my first Letter to my Mother in 2007. I had to alot to say to her then.  A year later I discovered that I could keep writing to my Mother and share with her the ups and downs of life. This has been rewarding and nourishing and I had to share it with others so I came up with Letters to My Mother.

This event made a huge difference to all that attended. Many people getting connected to all the people in their life that they care about. 

I am now raising money to be able to by my mother the tombstone she's never had. I appreciate all contributions. So far after all expenses have been paid to produce the Letters to My Mother event I have raised £200 towards the head stone and need to raise another £1800
