It has been over seven years since the cancer diagnoses. We are extremely fortunate Robert is still here and fighting to stay alive long enough to watch our daughter grow up. The prostate cancer is in remission; the metastatic melanoma is still stage IV but microscopic right now; however, he is now in end stage kidney disease and waiting for surgery and hemodialysis. After seven years of doctors, hospitals, treatments, surgeries, and being near death twice, these diseases have devastated Robert and our finances. It's terribly embarrassing to even admit but like so many people, we have become a statistic to medical debt. Robert survived: that means the bills don't stop; doctor appointments don't stop; the exhaustion is chronic. I don't know if this is an actual term but I've noticed something I call "cancer fatigue" with most friends and family. I get it, he's still here so why do I still post. I post mostly for updates so everyone knows how he's doing. This is an easy way to get the word out. I'm happy to do this since I know there are so many people that care about Robert. We are about to enter a new phase of this experience: hemodialysis. We hope this makes Robert feels better but will also add another strain to our family. The stress for us has never stopped. We are extremely grateful for the kind, loving words over the years from all of you. We appreciate it more than you'll ever know. This new campaign is simply to continue informing each of you how Robert is faring. I will do my best to keep up with posts. If you wish to donate, that's wonderful. If not, that's is totally understandable. It was time to update the campaign since the original is becoming glitchy. Thanks for reading and your continued support, in any form.
Love to all. Kathi and Robert
