Help me produce a play!
On a whim while in Mexico City, I went to see an actor in a play. Yes it was in Spanish and yes I knew I wasn't going to understand what they were saying but I figured if people went to Operas and enjoyed them without understanding the language, I could enjoy a play in a language I didn't speak.
I most certainly didn't know 98% of what was being said but I followed along with the charismatic actors and wound up in tears at the end of the show. I interpreted enough to understand the surprising ending.
The writer, Paus Marron, happened to be there and after meeting her and finding out what the full story was and that it was created from a real life experience of hers, I was moved to tears again. I immediately asked if she could translate it because I wanted to do it in LA.
Paus enthusiastically said yes and that is how I am now here, about to produce ' What I Never Told You' ( Lo Que Nunca Te Dije' in Spanish) for Fringe Festival in June, that I will also co-star in.
All the shows for Fringe Festival are self produced and that is where I am hoping you might be able to help!!
Your donations will help me bring this play to the stage in June!
For every donation of $25 or more you either get a ticket to the show if you are able to come or I will send you a hand stamped (by me) MyIntent bracelet that you can personalize for either yourself or as a gift for someone else (they retail for $20-$30 on their site myintent.org)
Your donation goes to :
*Registration for the festival
*Theatre rental for the 5 show run in June
*Marketing materials for the show
*Props/costumes/set design
*Paying my director, actors, stage manager, and box office staff.
*I would also love to fly the writer from Mexico City to LA to come see the show!!!
Your support helping make this project a reality means the world to me!!
In a business where it has grown more and more necessary to create opportunities for yourself, bringing this play to life will not only be a creative vessel for myself but also the other actors to showcase what we can do.
The performances of this show will be dedicated to my recently deceased Cousin Matt and his wife Je'Taime.
Thank you in advance for your support of Local Theatre and myself and the actors who will also be in the show!!
