April 13th I met with my Surgical Oncologist, who is a Medical Director of Robotic Surgery. The plan is to move forward with a radical cystectomy. It’s a very complexed surgery. But together with my surgeon, we are taking the necessary steps to fight my Cancer. I feel confident with his expertise. He was very upfront, and informed me that this is a high-stakes, complex operation. He reiterated that I’m facing a long recovery ahead. But that it is necessary to treat the cancer.
I am now on an extended Leave of Absence with my cancer crisis. I did not qualify paid disability leave according to my employers disability leave policy. My Leave of Absence is from March 27, 2026 through November 2, 2026. Fortunately during this time of leave. So far I have been able to the Saturday afternoon Volunteer Piano playing in the Lobby of the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Phoenix Campus. Playing there is therapeutic especially ‘now for me,’ as well as it is for Lobby visitors. Playing there helps with the ups and downs of the Chemotherapy. On the down side, too, my Oncologist informed me that my kidneys have not working as well as they need to. And has now put me on a strict regiment of extra hydration. My first surgery is scheduled for May 5th. The major radical surgery is going to be in May or June. Recovery from this radical cystectomy (bladder removal) and prostatectomy usually takes several months, with initial recovery taking 4-6 weeks and full recovery spanning 3-6 months. Thank you all for your help and support!sly schedule for April 21st, as there has to be additional time before the surgery can done. I have an appointment with my Urologist on March 30th, and he will work out a new surgery date. Friday March 13th. Chemotherapy infusion and related treatment difficulties, I could work at my store only one shift, this week, on Monday March 9th. I had an infusion on Thursday March 12th. Since my March 3rd infusion, I’ve struggled with severe nausea and a great lack of appetite. My current medications had not been very effective, making it hard to stay hydrated or eat. Today, Friday March 13th medication are work better. I’m still trying to work at my store, if at all possible, one or two days per week. And, trying to do my Saturday piano program at Mayo. With every thing going on, I might have to resign from my volunteer Saturday Piano playing program. On of the hardest issues I face, I am find great difficultly in attending regular Sunday Church Services. Tuesday March 3rd. It was rescheduled by the Cancer Care Center team for a 4.50 session. Friday February 27th I was scheduled to work at my store. Had to leave after one hour, as I felt terrible. I had extreme tiredness and felt very weak. Thursday February 26th and was scheduled to work. All went well yesterday, with me having plenty of energy to work my eight hour shift. Tuesday February 24th I was at the Cancer Care Center for the scheduled Chemotherapy session. Both my White Blood Cell Count and Absolute Neutrophil Count were low. The Infusion was canceled and rescheduled for March 3rd.: Tuesday February 24th. I surely will appreciate all that can assist in my insurance copay amount. It currently as of May 3rd 2026 is $2,528.90 Thank you all that can offer assistant on this! Thank you all for your prayers, well wishes, help, and support on any amounts. It all helps tremendously.
