Hi, My name is George, I'm fundraising for my private gp and surgeon's fees for my transitional process. I am deaf, I'm 40 years old and I have been waiting on the NHS since February 2020, and at the time, I was told I would be seen in February 2022. Since COVID happened just after then, I called (via an interpreter) them in Oct 2021 to get an update, and it was delayed to March 2023. It was then I decided to start the process privately with donations from my cousin and myself. And I started hormones but I still have to pay for regular reviews for the prescriptions. So, after waiting til March 2023, and realising that I've not heard anything more from the nhs, I called them again via a hearing friend and it's been delayed yet again to September 2024.
I am at a breaking point, it is really not comfortable to continue living with microaggressions and misidentification of my gender daily bases. I am a very active man so most of my activities I have to do without an binder and it makes it all the more obvious and confuses people and it pulls me down. So I am raising just enough for the endocrinologist reviews (3 more appointments until Sept 2024) and for the top operation itself. I am hoping to have it done within a year. The first thing that has to happen is a psychologist review and referral to a surgeon, and I have already booked and paid for that, on 21st Aug 2023.
I will do 4 different fundraising events. A Karaoke BSL competition, A half marathon, a tough mudder and a triathlon.
The operation itself will cost £9500 upwards, I will get the exact quote soon. The consultation will cost £350 and the Endocrinologist review will cost £140. Hence the total being £10000, so far.
