Portishead Swift Box Project

We are raising funds to establish Swift boxes in Portishead. The town used to support a healthy population of these summer-visiting birds, but in recent years numbers nationally (loss of habitats, changes to building design etc) have declined to the point they are now red-listed as being at risk.

The initial plan is for some off-the-shelf boxes (some with cameras), long term we’d like to get the community making boxes.

Let’s welcome them back and make Portishead a Swift-friendly town - like it used to be.
