Please support Dan Brown & his cancer diagnosis

Hi. My name is Lynn and I am Dan's big sister in Florida. He has a whole other bonus family down here and we are looking to help.

Dan went to the hospital August 8, 2023 for excruciating back pain. Initially it was attributed to kidney stones.
After a series of tests, Dan found out that his back pain was a result of colon cancer.

Dan was referred to an oncologist. It was then that he found out that he in fact had metastatic stage 4 adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon. Metastatic means that the cancer has spread from the originating area of the sigmoid colon. The cancer has now invaded 12 lymph nodes, the liver and the abdominal wall.

Next was a visit to the gastroenterologist, where he found out that he had to have part of his sigmoid colon removed. They ended up removing 10 inches and Dan had to have his intestines rerouted to a colostomy, which he still has.

Dan was also found to have another tumor on his liver that has increased in size, from 1.3cm in October 2023 to 5.8cm in February 2024.

He was started on chemotherapy back in October and is treated every 2 weeks.

After meeting with an interventional radiologist, a plan was set up to potentially start a y90 radiation treatment. This means they planned to insert radioactive beads into the tumor, which would eventually cause the tumor to die and leave the healthy tissue unaffected. However, that treatment has recently been pulled off the table and is no longer an option because he no longer qualifies for that type of treatment. Things have just progressed too far.

Recently the doctors found a spot on Dan's liver. At this point in time they are not too concerned with it, so we are all hopeful that that does not change.

Recent test show an increase in CEA levels (tumor markers).
Normal CEA levels are less than 2.9 ng/ml, meaning anything over that is considered abnormal. Changes in this level can indicate cancer growth or the spreading of cancer. A decrease in CEA levels can also indicate if the treatment is working.
As I stated, Dan's CEA levels have increased. Over the last 3 months, his CEA levels rose from 33 ng/ml to 207 ng/ml.

Those of you who know Dan know that he is a loving husband and father. For those of you who don't know him... he is amazing. He is 43 years old. He has 3 daughters: Carissa (21), Ariana (16) and Baylee (12). His wife Judy has been working and is the sole provider for the household at this time; however, there are times that she has to miss work without pay due to appointments and treatments, as well as for the kids.

Currently, any money brought in is used for rent & living expenses, taking care of the kids, car payment for transportation, health insurance, copays & treatment incidentals, as well as other things that life throws their way.

Dan is unable to work, which has obviously lowered their household income. Because of this, they are having a hard time keeping up with all of the bills racking up, including rent. At this point, their landlord has started the eviction process.

We are looking to help Dan & his family any way we can.
