Hey there! My name is Ashleigh Veney! My furry best friend Roxy is my 5yr old French bulldog. I got Roxy 4yrs ago after my mom passed away and we developed a strong connection I’d never thought i’d have with a dog. Roxy has been through the worst with me up to domestic violence and always presented herself with lots of love, cuddles, and playtime. Roxy always made her presence known to me. My companion loves road trips, waiting for crumbs to fall off our plates, playing with kids, and exploding with zoomies whatever chance she gets. Lots of the neighborhood kids love Roxy and now I have my own kid. I’ve just had a baby and my daughter has already started loving Roxy.

Roxy has recently been diagnosed with Intervertebral disc disease. My fur baby lost the use of her back legs due to several herniated disc pressing down on her spinal cord. She is completely paralyzed. To know Roxy is to know that she was a very active dog and even follows me wherever I go. It hurts to see her immobile. Roxy is in need of spinal surgery and the cost for everything is anywhere between $7,000-$9,000. We’ve been told that time is of the essence because IVDD is a progressive disease. Certain dog breeds that have a long back and short legs, including Dachshund, Basset Hound, Shih Tzu, French Bulldog, Lhasa Apso, Pekingese, and Beagle, are predisposed to IVDD. The disease has also been known to occur in large-breed dogs, such as German Shepherds, because with age disc degeneration occurs. If you can give anything, and I mean anything to help get my dog mobile again for a better quality of life, it would mean the world to us. I just can’t rack up the costs that quickly and insurance will not cover it due to it being preexisting; she was diagnosed last week. Even if you cannot donate please share!
