Love for Lori

This past week one of my very closest friends had the tragic loss of her best friend & mother Lori. Lori was a single mom, in 1994 she found out she had cervical cancer & thankfully beat it. Years later in winter of 2011 she learned that she had breast cancer, once again Lori fought like no other and beat it only to have the diagnosis of brain cancer surface in November of 2013. By some miracle Lori became a cancer survivor for the third time. Due to her previous medical battles & the associated financial burden she was unable to obtain a life insurance policy. Leah was her mom's pride and joy. If there was one thing Lori was proud of, it was her daughter. Their relationship was something Leah cherished more than anything in her life. Each Monday Leah would take Lori to the Chinese buffet for lunch, but the last Monday before Lori's passing it snowed causing them to cancel. Lori told Leah she had been feeling sick anyway so they then made plans to meet up that Wednesday instead. Tuesday Leah got a call, her mom had had a hemorrhagic stroke and was in the ER. Her whole world fell apart as the doctors told Leah that her mom had bleeding in her brain, which caused the stroke and left Lori brain dead. The doctor said that her body and tissues were already extremely weak from the multiple treatments of chemo that Lori had been through. After lots of tears and goodbyes Leah made the decision to take her mom off life support. As if loosing your mom at 23 isn't hard enough, she's now trying to find a way to afford the funeral expenses as a college student off of a waitressing income. Leah is one of the sweetest, most kind and genuine people I have known. She's always thinking of others and putting everyone else first. It's time we put her first. While we can't take away the loss of her mother we can sure help with the financial burden she is facing with preparing the funeral & giving Lori the most beautiful service that she deserves. ❤️
