Coming together for Jessica Dickey and family
Donation protected
Update: On April 7th, Jessica gained her wings and left us to go to her Heavenly home. She was at peace and comfortable, surrounded by an immense amount of love from her family and friends. She did not for a second let her cancer dictate how things went and she left us in her own terms, comfy and in her own bed. As sad as we are, we find comfort and joy knowing that Jessica gave us her all to have every day possible. We love you baby and we will meet again!
Jessica is an amazing mother, wife and elementary school teacher. On August 21st, at the incredibly young age of 43, Jessica was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. There were no symptoms until June 13th and everything has happened so fast and we are absolutely broken. Jessica has only ever given love and has asked for little in return. We have been married for 16 years and been together for over half of our lives, and the pain is real. Rivers, our only child, recently turned 15 and is an amazing kid, thanks to his angel of a mother. Jessica has been an elementary school teacher for well over a decade and loves her kids so so much!! Jessica started chemotherapy on September 1st. She has gone from 121 pounds on June 13th to 96 pounds at the time of this posting. We would have never dreamed that we would be here, asking for help for something like this. The overwhelming expense of co-pays, deductibles, traveling almost 200 miles round trip each time we visit our cancer center, medicines, food, equipment needed to keep Jessica comfortable among so many other things has led us to asking for our friends and family to help us. It's not an easy thing to do by any means and we would rather be healthy and living paycheck to paycheck like everyone else than to get to a spot where this is something we even have to consider. Jessica is still working and hopefully will stay strong enough to continue for a long time. I wish she didn't have to because it is so much on her, but her salary is used to cover most of the bills and my pay goes to food, gas, etc. Our insurance is also through her work, so she has to work to maintain that. The co-pays for treatment and dr visits alone have been somewhere in the range of 15-20k, and those reset at the beginning of October, plus all the medicine co-pays for medicines reset at the same time. We know everyone is going through it now and it absolutely guts us to ask for anything. If you cannot donate, we understand, but you can still help by sharing this or just sharing Jessica's story and let everyone know how many lives she has touched and how much love she has given through the years. We love her more than anything in the world and anyone that has ever had the privilege of meeting her and hanging out with her know how beautiful and caring she is. Thank you all for anything you can do to help, through donations, sharing Jessica's journey or sending messages of love and hope.
