In 2022, Mary Beth kicked off the adventure of a lifetime - relocating from Utah, USA to London to pursue a Masters in Dance. Just one semester into her new life, Mary started to experience some strange symptoms. As her symptoms worsened, answers became harder to find.
Fast forward to now, and Mary has come back to the states and spent the last two years essentially in her bed. She’s received diagnoses like Long Covid, POTs, Chronic Fatigue, and ME/CFS. What she hasn’t received is relief.
This year, the family has tracked down one of three doctors in the US who are working to help patients like Mary Beth. Their hypothesis is that scar tissue on both Mary’s jugular veins are blocking blood flow to her brain, resulting in extreme exhaustion - the kind of exhaustion that keeps one in bed for years - unable to stand, read, speak, or even listen to music. With this cutting edge treatment, we are hopeful that Mary Beth will be back dancing, smiling, hiking, and playing with us soon.
Mary Beth is anxiously awaiting surgery for her right jugular vein in Colorado. This surgery is the first step in what may be several surgeries; After her jugular veins are addressed, they will need to tackle her cranial cervical instability. Unfortunately, insurance is telling us that they won’t cover the cost since it is out of state.
Mary’s life-changing surgery will cost $35,000, which is simply out of reach for her and her family. We are asking for any contribution you can make - whether it’s financial, spreading the word on Mary’s struggle, or even keeping her in your prayers.
