We are heartbroken to share that our beloved Akeem passed away in June 2025, at the age of 53. He had been battling serious health issues for over 7 years, including kidney failure which required him to undergo regular dialysis. After finally receiving a kidney transplant last year, Akeem faced more setbacks — spending two months in hospital, and then the last four months in intensive care.

Throughout it all, Akeem remained strong, smiling and hopeful. We celebrated his last birthday with him in hospital, never imagining it would be his final one. His passing has come as a huge shock to our family and all who loved him. He fought hard, we prayed for healing, and we believed he would recover. But we now trust that he is at peace and no longer in pain.

Akeem was a good man with a kind and generous heart. He was always there for others — family, friends, even strangers — offering his support, laughter, and wisdom. He loved deeply and lived with joy, no matter how hard things were behind the scenes. He never let his pain define him.

We are starting this GoFundMe to help raise funds for Akeem’s funeral and memorial. Our goal is to give him the send-off he truly deserves. His partner Merci and our family have been by his side daily, and we’re grateful for everyone who visited, supported, and prayed with us during this journey.
