As many of you know, I crashed my dirt bike back in August and dislocated my elbow. I ended up needing surgery for a full radial head replacement, and my recovery time was set by my providers at around 12 weeks.
I’ve been working hard to regain strength and dexterity in my hand, but because of the nature of my job in dental, I’m unable to return to work until I’m fully out of my brace. This has brought on significant financial hardship for me as not only am I out of my regular income, but I’ve also been hit with medical bills and ongoing out-of-pocket recovery costs.
On top of all that lol I had to move this month, which meant covering a new security deposit, moving fees, and overlapping rent between places. After eight weeks without pay, I’ve officially depleted my savings. I’m currently waiting on my Oregon Paid Leave benefits to drop, but the process is taking far longer than expected.
I’m down to my last couple hundred dollars with more bills scheduled to pull this week, and rn even basic things like groceries feel out of reach. I would normally just keep my head down and push through, but I’ve hit a point where that’s no longer sustainable.
I’m creating this GoFundMe to cast a net out to my community and ask for a bit of collective care and mutual aid while I get through the tail end of this recovery. Anything helps - truly. Even sharing this post or sending a kind word means a lot right now.
This is not easy for me to write. I’ve worked hard to be a valuable member of my community, and I’m used to happily carrying more than my fair share to lighten the load for others - something I pride myself on. Being in this position has been frustrating, humbling and uncomfortable, but it’s also been a necessary lesson in learning how to ask for help (lol, still working on it)
Once my benefits come through, I’ll be able to get back on my feet and return to work in November. Until then, thank you so much for reading and showing love in whatever way you can. I know times are hard for everyone right now, so please don’t strain yourself to assist - but if you’re able to help, it would make a world of difference for me.
Love y’all
– Rose ♡
