Hi. My name is David Hucks Bergeron. 30 years ago I met the man of my dreams - Tony. We've had our ups and downs, and one long period of separation but we came back together and were legally married March 12, 2016. It was seven beautiful years. I know Tony has suffered from PTSD from several life events, including the military. However, over the past year the symptoms have exacerbated for some reason. He became short tempered over the littlest things. On April 30th, we had a very minor disagreement over our dogs barking. He then proceeded to go into our home office and destroy my work computer slamming it on the floor. When I went to see what was going on he hit me and pushed me to the ground. He is much bigger than me. He physically picked me up and threw me out of OUR home. He took my keys and literally destroyed my phone so I had no way to communicate with anyone. He took my wallet and all of my credit and debit cards. I was locked out of the house with no way to drive off, no way to enter the house, and no way to communicate, and I was bleeding on my face, arms, and knees. I am now safe thanks to wonderful friends and family. However, since that night Tony has blocked our bank account and refused access to my ID, my personal papers such as my birth certificate, etc. I have now opened a new bank account but I still have no access to any of our assets. I have hired a good attorney but this costs a lot of money. The house will be sold and any profit will be 50/50 but this costs money. Tony will be served with divorce papers in a few days. I am just trying to survive. I have to find another place to live and another car as my car is in both of our names and the attorney said I have to resolve that. I have NEVER asked for help in my life, and doing so now is a bit humiliating for me, but I do need help to overcome this situation. I have way more respect for domestic violence victims, and any funds I do not use for myself I promise to donate to Hubbard House in Jacksonville. I appreciate anything any of you can do. Domestic Violence is real. I recover hour by hour, step by step.
