We are beyond words grateful and stunned by the amount of help we’ve received. We also count ourselves very lucky - the hospital decided to cap the bill at $20.000 (our discharge papers revealed it would otherwise have been another $17.000) so that is the final
amount. Again - thank you all so so much!
Max is one of a kind and deserves the world. He survived neuro ocular FIP as a kitten and since then has been thriving. He is the biggest personality and most loving part of our family and we can not imagine a life without him.
Since Saturday 6/8 he has been in and out of the hospital with urinary tract problems, and this Friday 6/14 he was diagnosed and had surgery for kidney stones. He is unfortunately facing complications and is still not doing better.
We have pet insurance but they recently let us know this is considered a pre existing condition and denied our claim. At this time the total bill is around $15000 but growing. He is still being monitored in the hospital and we do not have an estimate of how long he might be there.
We can’t put a price on our family members life, but we have emptied our savings and are running out of options.
Grateful for any and all help. We just want him home.
Edit 6/20: Max is still in the ICU trying to heal from a urethra tear, in addition to recovering from his surgery. We visited him this morning and he had taken a turn for the worse. He has a lot of edema, looking extremely swollen, and the doctors are not sure why. They describe his condition as critical but stable and will continue to test and monitor him.
