Help Heather Get Back On Her Feet

Happy New Year friends! We have created this GoFundMe for our very dear friend Heather Kelly who unfortunately has been weathering quite a storm over the past couple months. For the last couple of years Heather was working full time in a small business that has struggled throughout the pandemic. Near the end of 2021 Heather was informed that her job would have to lay her off after December 31 due to these issues. She hit the ground running in the job hunt when another terrible event occurred--a few days before her 35th birthday she was in a skateboarding accident and broke her ankle. Heather’s job doesn’t offer health insurance and the plan she has through the Marketplace only covers catastrophic injury/illness with an incredibly high deductible. She had to have surgery to set it back in place which obviously cost thousands. She will need months of physical therapy in order to teach her leg how to walk again. With the new year, the insurance deductible restarts.

Heather hasn’t been able to work since the injury on 12/11 and was an hourly worker, therefore her income stopped on 12/11 and until she has a new job her income won’t continue as she was officially laid off on January 1. While she’s been recuperating from the ankle break she has had to turn down job opportunities and leads she’d acquired before the injury as she’s not able to work yet. The hospital bills keep coming and it will still be weeks until she can get around and work again. Meanwhile she is draining her savings and trying to keep her spirits up.

Heather is one of the kindest, most thoughtful, and caring individuals out there. She’s been known to give to others any way she can be it financially, through acts of service, or even sending you a random snail mail card & original poem. We’d love to invite anyone and everyone to please help her get back on her feet--once that ankle is good and healed!
