Scruff needs surgery :(

Scruff is a beautiful and very active 3 year old kelpie who just LOVES to chase balls. He is incredibly energetic and athletic and watching him run is a joy.

Unfortunately, he has blown his cruciate ligament and needs surgery. He is in pain and he won't get better without the surgery. He is also at risk of damaging his other back leg, which could see him further disabled.

Normally, we would be referred to Queensland for this surgery, because it can only be performed by a specialist. Due to covid and the Queensland border closures, we will need to travel a 6 hour round trip to Coffs Harbour to get him to a specialist vet hospital and he will need to stay there for a week. He has a 6 week recovery post-surgery where he has to stay in a cage, which is going to be torture for us both.

The cost of the surgery and aftercare will be in excess of $4000. He will also have to take life-long medications and supplements now. I have already spent about $1000 by that stage on vet bills and other costs related to his injury.

It's not often I ask for help, but quite a few people have given me a kick up the backside and told me to swallow my pride on this one. I am a student, I do not currently receive a wage and I spend most of my time volunteering for the community, so any support you can give would be really appreciated.
