MS Journey

Hello all, my name is Sarah Bentson, Daughter of Jennifer Bentson. My mom has recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis; which if you don’t know what that is, having MS results in nerve damage that disrupts communication between the brain and the body.
It was a normal day, I was about to fly out for my summer job in Missouri called Camp Barnabas and we were last minute shopping for my trip. She started to feel really weird and said her leg wasn’t working right, so I immediately asked for some help and for a place for her to sit, called my dad and he brought her to the nearest ER. The next day I flew out not knowing what was up with my dear mama. Through the entire month of July, many diagnoses were up in the air. With lots of hard work from the doctors, multiple tests and scans, and my AMAZING father they finally came to the decision that the diagnosis was MS.
She can’t move her left arm or left leg, and hasn’t been able to this whole time through the treatments and medications. She is doing intensive physical therapy, speech therapy and lots of other things to start recovering and in hopes for her to be able to start moving and walking. 3 weeks had passed and my mom obviously cannot work and my dad was also taking this whole time off as well. She is in a great rehab center right now, but insurance can only cover so much. If she doesn’t fully recover, we will need a wheelchair accessible home as well. She was in three different hospitals before she was finally moved to the center and bills add up. My dad is the only one bringing in income currently and money is very tight, as anyone can imagine. So I am starting this campaign to start helping my amazing parents. I don’t know how, where, who or what I would be without their love and support all of my 18 years of living. I have an older sister, Allison, who is 20 and is going to school and also can agree with me that we are so blessed to have such loving and caring parents. $5 will help with the gas it takes to get to the center and home, dinner for me and my dad, and to the medical bills. I wish everyone in this world had the opportunity to meet my best friend, Jennifer. If you can’t donate, which is totally okay, please just keep her and our family in your prayers for recovery and strength. Thank you so much for reading this and please consider all I’ve shared.
