I came to this country when I was just 7 years old, fleeing the violence that consumed my small town. Gang violence was everywhere, and my family feared for my life. I was just a child, but the danger was all around, and my mom made the heartbreaking decision to leave everything behind and seek safety.
My mom had already made the journey here, working hard to build a life and save enough to bring me to safety. But my trip wasn’t easy—it was hard, especially for a child. I rode on buses for days, crossing borders and dealing with the uncertainty of not knowing what would happen next. Along the way, I was detained in a jail, a place no 7-year-old should ever have to be. I was exposed to situations that no child should experience, things that still haunt me. The fear, the confusion, and the desperation of the journey marked me in ways I can never forget.
Now, I face the heartbreaking truth of being deported to a country I barely remember. To be sent back would not only mean leaving behind the life I’ve fought for, but it would also tear me away from my husband and the family we dreamed of building. We’ve worked together toward a future of love, security, and the hope of becoming parents. I didn’t choose to come here as a child, but I’ve done my best to live a life that contributes to the society that gave me a chance. The money being raised will be used towards my new attorney fees.
