Theresa Bucao is a loving mom, sister, daughter, wife and friend. She is a vibrant soul... an artist, who takes joy in finding the beauty in all things and especially in people, where she has succeeded in many leadership roles both at work and at home with her family too!
On October 13 of this year, Theresa went for a follow-up dermatology appt for a weird facial rash, that spread from her chin to her nose to her eyelids, all symmetrically! While there, we attempted topical & steroid treatment, then run some labs. From there the rash did not improve and the labs came in with some alarming numbers. So, follow-up imaging was requested and Ultrasound and Fibroscan showed lumps and scarring tissue, confirming her Lupus diagnosis and Liver Cirrhosis! Following this diagnosis, polyps were discovered in her gall bladder being cancerous, which is why we are reaching out to all of you for help!
Today, November 9, Theresa awaits her biopsy of her liver. From there, she will continue more testing and oncology appointments in order to create the most efficient and effective treatment plan as soon as possible. This is a lifelong prognosis. She will most likely start with chemo to shrink the masses, then continue on with a series of drug infusions every three weeks. She is also awaiting when she can have her surgery to potentially remove her gall bladder. These drug infusions will continue for the rest of her life, and once the initial series stops working, they will try a different series. And so on and so on...
Theresa and her family are starting the fight of their lifetime. Living with cancer is EXPENSIVE, and insurance doesn't cover so many of the necessities a family of four has during this challenging time. We are raising funds for:
• Medical bills
• Meals
• Hospital treatment lodging
• Cleaning and childcare
• Travel
• Clinical trials
• Therapy
and more. Theresa is 34 years old with two girls under the age of 10 (Ages 9 & 3.) Please consider donating what you can to help put their family's financial mind at ease so they can focus on FIGHTING CANCER. Let's support them and give them the ability to be truly present with one another during this time!
