Christopher Cardenas has been battling Leukemia since he was 4 years old. After 3 years of chemotherapy, Chris was declared in remission in November 2020.
On February 2021 however, Chris’ Leukemia unexpectedly relapsed.
Chris now needs intensive treatment for 6 months including chemotherapy, radiation, and a bone marrow transplant
The estimated costs for 6 months of treatment are Php 3.5 million or $72,000 USD.
Chris is not covered by insurance in the Philippines because it is considered a preexisting condition.
(This is Chris' science video project for school! He is a straight A student!)
Every little bit/any amount donated will go towards Chris' medical expenses. Chris' planned treatment entails a combination of intensive treatments at the hospital and outpatient care.
For example:
- The preliminary tests for Chris' bone marrow transplant, for which either his father or mother will be a donor, cost 70,000 Php or $1,500 per person
- 1 week of treatment at the hospital (without complications) costs Php 120,000 or $2,500*
- 1 week of outpatient treatments (required 3 days per week) costs 50,000 Php or $1,000
- 1 week of anti-nausea medicine and other supplemental medicine cost 5,000 Php or $100
*However, Because of COVID, stays in the hospital are prolonged to ensure his safety during treatment.
We hope this fundraiser can help ease the financial strain on his loving family/parents, and allow them to focus their energies on caring for him and creating memories as a family.
Thank you so much for your love and support!
