On Wednesday July 25, I received a phone call from my surgeon at Stanford Medical University requesting I drop everything and come to Palo Alto for open heart surgery on Friday morning. So I called my boss, put the catering on hold and headed south. The trip itself is an expense but missing work, and hotel rooms for my family, and the on going medical expenses make this daunting surgery even more nerve racking.
