Update: Gamma radiosurgery performed on 12/22 to reduce the tumor on Cheryl’s parietal lobe. Wont know to what extent it was successful, for a few weeks when they re-do scans and other tests. Her eyesight and memory have been further effected.
Friday 12/10 Breaking News: Cheryl is in surgery today to remove the prolactinoma tumor in her brain. Your thoughts and prayers are needed. Saturday 12/11: Cheryl came through surgery well and she is home resting.
Please help raise money for my friend Cheryl to pay for her uncovered medical bills. Cheryl is a single mom with two kids, Erin who is 13, and Miranda, adopted as an infant from China, is 15. Both teens look forward to the day when Cheryl is back to herself again, hiking, going to the theater with them, and traveling to their favorite beaches in San Diego. Cheryl and her girls currently live in Phoenix, AZ. She's been an educator her entire career, and now works for the AZ Department of Education. Cheryl is a breast cancer survivor who was recently diagnosed with prolactinoma, which is a tumor on her pituitary gland. After bloodwork and a battery of tests, the doctors also
discovered a malignant glioma on the parietal lobe of her brain. She is also suffering from viral encephalitis. All of this has caused seizures, a decrease in eyesight, lessened ability in her cognitive processing and significant memory loss, confusion and near uncontrollable anxiety. Cheryl has and will continue to undergo testing and infusions while taking 6 medications each day, two of them being a chemo drugs. While she does have insurance, some of her medications are not covered at all and others just a portion. Right now she is paying over $1700 in out of pocket expenses just for meds, each month, which is far beyond her families means. This does not include the fees for infusions, radiosurgery, anesthesiologists, etc. Cheryl's condition is treatable and her quality of life can improve, given the correct medications. With your help, we can make sure that Erin and Miranda have their mom with them for many years to come. I hope you will join me in supporting my friend, Cheryl - Peace, Love & Light.
