Jim’s road to recovery

Hi, my name is Nicole and if you don’t know this is for Jim my dad. About 6 weeks ago my dad had surgery on his back. During this major surgery his blood pressure dropped and the doctor had to stop surgery 4 hours in after he had fused 3 vertebrae with 5 more hours to go. After they were able to wake him up the discovery of 4 strokes with one being major happened. My dad was in the icu for 9 days then was released to a rehab facility for 3 weeks. In order for him to be home he is needing 24/7 at home care. He is still learning to walk, talk, eat and do just about everything we do in our daily lives to take care of ourselves. I work far from home and my step mom Renee can not take extra time off of work. I never thought I would be creating one of these, but my dad is needing a lot of help so we can have an at home nurse be with him that unfortunately is not covered by insurance that he has to have just to be able to help him eat, go to the bathroom, check his sugar and give him his medications change him and be there while the physical therapist and occupational therapist come to him. This has been such a hard time for my dad and our family and I’m not expecting much and never ever ask for help, but a time like this I’ll do whatever it takes to help my dad on his long road to recovery just so he can live his life again. If you know my dad he is a very tough strong independent kind hearted man, so seeing him like this is really tough. So anything at all is more than I could have imagined ❤️
