As many of you may know, our beautiful and beloved Kweli, just 14 years old, has gained his wings. On July 1st Kweli was rushed to the hospital after being found unresponsive from a possible seizure. During his hospital stay he was visited by upwards of 30 people daily to show their love and support while we waited for him to come back to us. We watched as his friends, teachers, mentors, coaches and peers sang to him, shared favorite memories and updated him on the daily events-all in hopes that he would wake up from the nightmare he and his family were going through. Kweli was no less than amazing. He spent most of his time on the basketball court and planning his future of becoming an NBA star-a dream that surely would have come true with the hard work and dedication he showed. Not only was Kweli the funny, and popular kid he was also a kind and loving remodel to his brothers, cousins and friends. A rare and special characteristic to hold. Everyone that knew Kweli was impacted by him in one way or the other. To lose a young man that was such a positive influence and had such a kind soul is absolutely heartbreaking. Kweli has an older sister, two younger brothers and a young niece that he lives with and spent every minute of every day together-they will forever have a piece of their heart missing. His brother King was his best friend. They are very close in age and they were never seen without each other. Kweli held on as long as he could for his family, but passed away just 2 days before his brothers birthday, July 19, 2018. What should have been the best summer of his life, the last summer before high school, turned into the most devastating-not just for Kweli but for his entire family. A close family that spent everyday together. No mother or father ever expects or prepares for something like this. If my nephew Kweli or my sister Raina or any of my family have ever touched your life please find it in your hearts to show your support. Our family finds comfort knowing that we are not going through this situation alone and words cannot express how much we appreciate your love. He is missed by everyone. Please pray for us while we heal. Fly with the Angels baby, we love you.
