Team Hudson's Wheelchair Accessible Van

Donation protected

Hudson is an INCREDIBLE little boy that has inspired so many people in the short 5 years he's been with us. He's an amazing big brother to his sister--who simply ADORES him. He loves to listen to his favorite songs, watch Disney Junior, and play during bath time.

A little background on our "Stud"-son...
Hudson suffered a traumatic brain injury at birth. He has since been diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and bilateral hearing loss. On top of these diagnoses, he is nonverbal, feeding tube dependent, and non ambulatory.

So... Why are we here?
As Hudson is getting older and GROWING like a weed, we are seeing more and more new specialists and reasons as to why a major life changing decision is needing to happen in our family. We have decided that next year I will be leaving my 2nd grade teaching position, to be a full time stay-at-home mom.  It's going to be tough to leave a job I love so much, however, it's time I solely focus on the needs of Hudson and his sister.

With only one income, it will be more difficult to cover necessary medical expenses (past, present, and future). One of the biggest expenses in the near future is a handicap van to transport Hudson. Unfortunately, this is not an expense covered by most insurance companies, including ours. He's almost 40 pounds and growing more and more every day. He has outgrown his car seat and it's becoming nearly impossible to transfer him from his wheelchair to the car seat.

Being home with him next year, I will be driving him daily to and from school, to his doctors appointments, and his many, many outpatient therapies. A handicap van will make this so much easier for us. A handicap accessible van will not only assist us in transporting Hudson, it will also improve his positioning for breathing, his feeds on the go, etc. during his time in the vehicle.

By donating to Team Hudson's specially equipped van, you will be alleviating some of the daily challenges that we encounter. This will be a total game changer for Hudson and our entire family!

The average cost to have a van modified is between $25,000 and $35,000. This money will directly help with our modifications needed. Any amount of generosity you can provide towards this fund will be greatly appreciated by Hudson and our family! We can't thank you enough for your continued support and prayers you have provided for Team Hudson.

Love,
Adam and Katie Thies
