Support for Kevin’s Cancer Recovery
Eighteen years ago, my dad battled small intestinal cancer and endured extensive surgeries and complications before being declared cancer free. While those surgeries saved his life, they left him with lifelong scars, abdominal complications, and recurring hernias. We are incredibly grateful for the many healthy, thriving years we’ve had with him since.
Recently, he began experiencing symptoms similar to his previous battle and was admitted to the hospital. Testing revealed an 8 cm mass in his colon, and cancer was confirmed. He underwent major surgery to remove the mass, repair multiple hernias, and test 42 lymph nodes. Miraculously, the surgery was successful — the cancer appears to have been fully removed, and all lymph nodes tested were negative for cancer. We are deeply thankful for the medical team and the highly experienced surgeon who cared for him.
While this outcome is incredibly hopeful, he is still recovering and will require follow-up scans and testing to confirm he is fully cancer free. After multiple hospital stays and a full week in the hospital following surgery, insurance covered the majority of the medical costs; however, he is still facing approximately $5,000 in out-of-pocket medical bills and follow up costs. As he works toward returning to his job and regaining his strength, this remaining balance is an added burden.
If you are able to support a local family during an unexpected medical journey, we would be incredibly grateful. Any donation or share helps more than we can express. We are hopeful for a healthy, cancer-free future and thankful for the love surrounding him. He means the world to his girls, his girlfriend, and his family and friends.
