Health is one those things that many people, sadly, take for granted. Some feel that if they eat right, exercise, and get enough sleep, their body will be immune to the effects of aging or injury. It’s just not something anyone wants to worry about.
Biman Ghoshal and his family have been acutely aware of the fragility of physical health since his first surgery at the El Camino Hospital in Mountain View 21 years ago. Having previously been on a work visa to be part of the dynamic startup EBay tech team in Silicon Valley, his promising career was halted by a surgical injury sustained after a routine procedure to remove gall stones. As a result, his health continued to decline, even though he tried to keep working. An additional severe setback a few years later made it impossible to work any longer.
His wife, Ranjana, built up a career in banking to support their family. Biman and Ranjana have been blessed with two children, Anika and Ishan. Anika is a student at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon and Ishan works full time while attending college at De Anza in Cupertino. Scrambling with the impossible hurdles of medicare, switching physicians to find specialists, and affording co-pays for crucial medications have put an inordinate amount of pressure on Ranjana, who had since moved to a position with Macy’s that allowed her a more flexible schedule. She has expressed deep gratitude for employers allowing her to adjust her schedule to the needs of the family. But as supportive as Macy’s has been, Ranjana is now out of vacation/sick days and last week, Biman was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer.
In order for Ranjana to continue to support Biman at this time, their family needs financial assistance as they work with doctors to make a treatment plan. By donating to Biman’s GoFundMe goal, you help a family spend precious time together without worrying about rent, basics, and medical expenses. Each contribution reminds the Ghoshal family that they are not alone in their efforts to be together at this time. Thanks for reading and helping this wonderful family be together.
