Gifts for Grace

Grace is an 11-month-old IVF miracle baby that has recently been hospitalized for bacterial meningitis, streptococcus pneumoniae and adenovirus. Her family is asking for prayers and any help they can graciously receive as they navigate these unexpected medical expenses.

On January 3 2023 Grace got an ear infection that made its way into her bloodstream and resulted in streptococcus pneumoniae bacteremia and meningitis likely secondary to an ear infection but her infectious disease team is still narrowing down the root of everything. She received care at WakeMed Children's Hospital where she underwent two lumbar punctures, broviac catheter placement, sedated MRIs, numerous IVs and bloodwork and she was placed on four strong antibiotics around the clock with continuous monitoring. Around 12 days into treatment a repeat MRI showed she may have a pocket of fluid in her right frontal lobe. Her medical team determined she needed more advanced care at UNC Children's where they have a neuro team in-house in case something were to arise. She was transferred via critical care ambulance and has remained stable at UNC. Gracies parents have been out of work on unpaid leave since January 3, 2023 and given how complex her case is for her age, there is no time frame for when she will go home yet!

Caleb and Olivia have gone through so much seeing their baby sick and going through procedure after procedure. When someone you love deeply, especially a child who is known for her infectious smile and sweet personality is sick, you feel very helpless. Many of Caleb and Olivia's friends and family have asked how to help. By donating you can ease their financial burden during this difficult time.

Grace is a fighter. We pray that with the continued love and support from her medical team and family and friends that she will keep getting better and get back to learning to crawl, eating pancakes with her parents and playing with her toys and dog Mia at home.
