We are the Buskirk’s. Officially as of September 20, 2017 when Amanda and I finally took the time to have our Dream Wedding. A month later some minor pains began with Amanda. For the next five months they would increase to the point of us finally seeking medical attention. She has had painful ovarian cysts in the past and we chalked it up to that. Until January. Her pain was so unpredictable it became impossible for her to run our homebased business and raise our three toddlers by herself. So we made the choice for me to leave my job, come home and take care of her and the kids while we pursue our home business dream.
The Dream turned Nightmare in February as she was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. At age 27. To follow that date, Febuary 26, 2018, would be nothing short of hell on Earth.
March came, and a radical hysterectomy would ensue. With the surgery, my wife was to be rid of cancer and also her ability to give birth. A very difficult decision, but made seeing that we have three beautiful healthy children already. Surgery complete. However, Amanda is upgraded to Stage 2B after another tumor had to be removed deeper in her cervical wall, caught the surgeon by surprise. Suprise to us as well. We new radiation would be needed as preventative maintenance, but now what?
End of May comes, treatment begins. Amanda undergoes both Chemotherapy and Radiation because there are remaining cancer cells. Its no longer preventative, its vital for her survival.
Now here is July. Treatment is done. She is a month away from finding out if she is remission or needs more radiation. Its a joyous time. However for 6 months, we have been forced to push off bills a various amount of ways. We have channeled as many options as we can find, but its simply not enough.
I, Shawn, am asking for $5000 to help pull us back to normalcy and at least floating with our debt, not drowning. We are working tirelessly at our homebased business to continue to dig out, however its not enough. And if I return to work, our home business will suffer so it makes no sense to leave my wife and children at home to make the same amount of money.
I am beyond humbled by this terrifying experience and ask that to all who can help, please do. We are the first ones to donate and help those in need and honestly it sucks to ask for this. I have no other options. Thank you for reading our story.
Love,
The Buskirks
Shawn, Amanda, Aubrey, Cade & Carson
