Support Uncle Doug in His Fight Against Cancer
UPDATE: Uncle Doug passed away on Thursday, April 24th after a very short battle with Cancer. Thanks to everyone who helped and kept him in your thoughts in his final days. He was very happy to know so many people cared for him.
This is my Uncle Doug (Gary), a warm, caring, and hardworking man who has always been there for others. At just 55 years old, his world has been turned upside down. After months of relentless pain and exhaustion, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer that has already spread to his esophagus and duodenum. He is now hospitalized at The University of Toledo Medical Center, over an hour away from his home and loved ones.
The road to this diagnosis has been incredibly difficult and unfair. Local hospitals refused to accept his insurance, turning him away and delaying the care he so desperately needed. At one point, he was even told to go home and call hospice care—without being given any hope or options for treatment. Now, in unbearable pain and unable to eat on his own, he was finally transferred to Toledo for care.
Uncle Doug and his wife are facing unimaginable challenges, not only emotionally but financially. In addition to mounting medical bills, they are struggling to keep their home of 10 years—a place filled with memories and love.
We are asking for your help to ease their burden during this heartbreaking time. Your support will go toward medical expenses and, most importantly, help them stay in their home while they navigate this fight together. Every donation, no matter the size, is a gift of hope and compassion.
Thank you for taking the time to read Uncle Doug’s story. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to our family. Let’s come together to show him he’s not alone in this fight for cancer.
