Critical Medical Expenses and Home Care

On September 29, 2023 Jimmy went to bed after not feeling well only to wake up the next morning disoriented and unable to speak or walk normally. His wife, Lisa immediately got him to the hospital and was advised that he had multiple acute strokes due to the occlusion of bilateral carotid arteries that continued to evolve. Jimmy is currently not a candidate for surgery, due to the blockages however he is being treated medically to give him every opportunity to recover.
Jimmy is still hospitalized, unable to speak or move his left side but can understand and is very expressive with Lisa, Cruz and Jazleen, Joshua and the many friends and family who have visited daily.
Lisa has been at Jimmy's side, at the hospital, 24/7 since he was admitted. She has consistently been told that acute accelerated rehab is necessary and the best option for his recovery, however their insurance is not making this path of treatment easy. Given the quality of care at the skilled nursing facilities in the area, Lisa has opted to care for Jimmy at home and will immediately need help preparing her home. She is being provided medical equipment but will need help right away with some work to be done in her home to accommodate Jimmy's needs.
Jimmy will receive the same therapy at home that he would have gotten in a skilled nursing facility however Lisa will work to increase the therapy in order to provide the accelerated rehab that she has been advised he needs. The cost of this will be out of pocket. Lisa and their boys Cruz & Josh are committed to doing whatever they have to, to get their Dad back. Cruz and Jazleen are expecting Jimmy's first grandchild in February. Jimmy has been over the moon waiting for the new baby!
Why should you help Jimmy and Lisa? Jimmy and Lisa have been two of my best friends for over 25 years. They are both incredibly giving, in fact Jimmy has been the "go to" for so many people, when you need new brakes or pretty much anything done to your car. Even though Jimmy could use the money at times, he would barely charge anything to help other people. His generosity would extend far beyond friends and family. He would get so mad when he would hear what one of the local shops would charge to fix your car and tell you to just bring it over. Sometimes he would even use his own AAA membership to tow a vehicle to his house so he could fix it for the person in need. He is all about his family, and loves to hang out with them especially his sons and nieces and nephews. He is the Dad, friend, uncle, brother who will be there for you anytime you need him.
Lisa, who has had to deal with all of the many health challenges of Lupus, is also the first one to offer her help and has always been an amazing wife, mother, aunt and friend! Their home has always been the gathering place. You can drop in anytime and find friends and family enjoying an afternoon together, watching sports in the garage. Lisa has always welcomed everyone , even when she could have used some down time to focus on her own health. She is a lioness when it comes to her family and regardless how hard it is, she will persevere to give Jimmy his life back and joy of his first grandchild being born in a few months.
Lisa is the main income provider in their household. She also provides the family's health insurance. We need all hands on deck, to support this amazing family and ensure Jimmy gets a chance to laugh with his family again. Jimmy is being prepared to be transferred home on Tuesday, October 31.
Your donation will go directly to supporting Jimmy's medical needs, modifications to their home and covering living expenses while Lisa is unable to return to work. Time is of the essence, Jimmy needs your help today. Please contribute anything you can. Lisa, Cruz and Jaz and Joshua appreciate your support and prayers for Jimmy. Updates will be provided. All gifts will go directly to Lisa and Jimmy Navarro.
