Support Nate The Great

On November 24, 2017 my sweet nephew Nathan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). He was 22 months and 3 days old. He spent the next 7 weeks at McMaster Children’s Hospital. During this stay at the hospital, on top of dealing with ALL he caught a virus called the Adenovirus and had to spend his second Christmas in a hospital room. He made it home in time to celebrate his second birthday. Two weeks later he was back in the hospital for over a month and this time caught another possibly fatal virus called RSV short for Respiratory Syncytial Virus. Life for Nathan is not going to be anything close to what a regular toddler will experience. Playing at a park or going to the mall can be deadly for Nathan. Throughout the entire journey so far, Nathan’s mom Tonya has never for a second left his side. She has spent tireless nights by his side in the hospital. She has had to sit by and watch him endure painful tests and procedures, fevers, and chemotherapy. While she is at Nathan’s side his dad Rob has been at work in Brantford. Separated for weeks and weeks this little family has endured the worst of the worst but always remain positive until recently when Rob lost his job. My sister and her husband are not ones to ever ask for help and as always I’m sure they will get through this like they have so many other things. Nathan’s road to recovery is a long and exhausting one not only physically but financially and emotionally. Tonya and Rob live in Brantford and Nathan needs treatment in Hamilton. There are times when Tonya is driving to and from Hamilton 5 times a week. I’m asking for help on behalf of my amazing sister and her beautiful family. We have been blessed to have your well wishes and prayers throughout this journey so far and I’m hoping we can all join together and help them now through this trying time.
