Lauren’s Medical Bills
After having COVID in April 2020, I was out of work for 7 weeks but was only paid for 4 weeks of time off. Fast forward to August 2020, I ended up in the hospital and having emergent surgery on my abdomen for intussusception, lysis of adhesions and an appendectomy. I spent the night in the hospital.
As a Registered Nurse, you’d think that the healthcare system would take care of you, but no. I’ve racked up a slew of medical bills and have been working 5-6 days a week to try to afford it. My CT scan was $1000, my MR-E $1100, my surgeons bill is $1250, anesthesia bill $600, not to mention my actual hospital stay bill. I have yet to receive the bill for my Capsule Endoscopy that I had last month. I have a colonoscopy on the 16th of November and I honestly have nothing left in savings.
I am currently being worked up for Crohn’s disease, which is classified as a disability because of how severe it can be in one’s life.
This is my last resort. I’m asking for help. I am a single woman who lives paycheck to paycheck. I never thought I would have to ask for help but here I am. Any little bithelps.
