Porky needs bladder surgery.

Hello everyone. I have never used a fundraising platform before and I didn’t intend to. However, I need to ask for a little bit of help.

We adopted Porky in 2020 from Venture Farm after we had lost our incredible cat, Alfie, to cancer. We just knew we could give him an adoring home and a safe environment, and felt destined to look after him and care for him, knowing he was an FIV+ cat who would potentially face some health challenges eventually. Porky knitted our broken hearts back together and became a joyful, gentle little constant in our lives. We love him tremendously.

In late December 2024, Porky sadly began showing signs of urinary distress. I won’t go into the details, but it has not been nice for him, and has been awful for us to see him go through it. Despite attempting various remedies and medicines and trips to the Taverham night vet, our local vet and Dick White Referrals in Newmarket, Porky’s symptoms got more prominent and a scan showed that a fairly significant lump in his bladder was the cause of his relentless clinical signs. Testing on the lump has frustratingly proven to be inconclusive, but it may be cancerous - the cells within the mass are abnormal. We are desperate to rid him of it and, whilst this is a possibility, the cost for the surgery will be in the thousands.

Up to this point, we have ourselves exhausted thousands of pounds already to help Porky, and we are unsure how much further we can fund his treatment ourselves. He is uninsured due to his FIV and we have paid everything thus far out of our own pockets.

Giles and I are asking for any small amount of help that you can offer to help us fund Porky’s surgery. It’s so hard to ask for assistance (especially as many of you have your own financial burdens and worries), and people that know us will know that we absolutely hate having to do this, but we owe Porky a chance as he has brought us so so much happiness during such dark times.
