Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Hayley. Me and my husband Daniel have been together for 15 years and married for 7. This is our journey so far. Thank you for taking time to read this.
10 years ago I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and had to have my cervix removed. Fortunately this was all that was needed for me to be cleared. This was then followed by a 12 month wait before we could start trying to conceive.
Fast forward to 2 years later and still nothing. We were referred for fertility tests that showed Daniel was ok, but I had some more issues. My right tube was damaged and was connected to an ovary that was so small they could not see it and my left ovary is polycystic. They removed my right tube but this was a traumatic experience in itself and the operation caused my heart to stop. This meant I had to wait another 6 months before anymore tests could take place.
6 months later and we were finally referred for IVF, as this is the only way I am going to be able to conceive. We were lucky enough to be offered 1 free round of IVF on the NHS which was amazing. This was unfortunately unsuccessful due to my eggs disappearing before they were able to be collected. They did manage to get one, but this was so small it could not be used.
This is where our journey has come to a halt, as the only way we can have another go is by funding it ourselves. As you can imagine, it is very expensive and will take us a long time to save the amount needed. This is why we are asking for help. Daniel and I have thought long and hard about publicly asking for support, but if it will help us to achieve our dream of becoming a family, it’s worth it. We are not asking for much. Just a chance.
