Help Nick fight cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Chris and I’m here to share the story of my friend Nick and ask the community for support.
In July 2023, Nick was feeling severe pain in his leg and was admitted to the emergency room. The doctors ran some tests and determined his leg pain was due to blood clots. He was given some meds and sent home. A couple days later the pain returned worse than before. Nick was admitted to the emergency room again and more tests and procedures were done. Then the doctor delivered the devastating news to him that he has stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to his liver. This was a huge shock to Nick and all his friends and family. At 44 years old this was very unexpected.
Per the doctor’s plan, Nick started chemotherapy in August 2023. He felt terrible after each treatment and it took him several days to recover but his bloodwork was getting better and there were signs the chemotherapy was working. The doctor’s update was that the last treatment would be in January 2024 and pending a CT scan, 2 surgeries would be scheduled to remove the remaining tumors. However, the CT scan showed the existing tumors had now grown and the cancer had spread to his lungs. Surgery was not an option at this point in time.
The current plan is for more chemotherapy treatments in hopes that they will shrink the existing tumors enough where surgery can be safely attempted. So far in 2024 he has had 4 treatments. Throughout this whole ordeal Nick has remained optimistic and continues to fight. He has been to the emergency room 6x since last year and days are spent at home resting. Per doctor’s instructions he has been unable to return to work since August 2023. While he receives EDD disability it is not enough to cover his medical and monthly living expenses.
I’ve always known Nick to be a good person with a positive attitude on life. He has always been a dependable friend and has been there for me when I’ve needed help in the past. At his job at Sycuan Casino as a poker dealer, Nick is recognized by many of the regular players and always runs an efficient and friendly game. Now Nick is facing the biggest battle of his life and could really use all the support he can get.
I created this GoFundMe to help raise money for Nick during this difficult time where he is unable to work. I want him to focus on his health and fighting cancer while not having to stress out about his bills. All of the money donated will go towards Nick’s medical bills and monthly living expenses.
Thank you for taking the time to read Nick’s story and please consider donating, sharing the GoFundMe link, and leaving some words of encouragement.
