HI. For those who don't know me, my name is Eden. I am, or rather was, Joseph's fiance and mother to his youngest child. The last few days have been hard to say the least trying to make sure all necessary parties were notified in the proper manner. His family and I have decided it is time to release an official statement. On Saturday, just after midnight, I was notified that Joseph had passed away while on his trip home from North Carolina. After much digging and phone calls we have been told the following about his passing.
At some point on Saturday evening, one or multiple other truckers at a rest stop off the 57 in Illinois noticed that his truck hadn't had any activity for a while and called 911. EMS found him unconscious but alive. His blood sugar only reads HIGH on their glucometer. During a 50-minute drive to the hospital, they had to perform CPR. Upon arrival at the hospital it was apparent he would not recover and he was pronounced dead at 20:54 Saturday evening.
In the days since then, the coroner's office has performed an autopsy for which we are awaiting final results which will take 8 to 10 weeks. However, the preliminary findings suggested that his heart was also involved in some way. He had a history of diabetes and high blood pressure, and heart issues go hand in hand with that. The working theory until we get the final autopsy is that the changes in his blood sugar caused too much strain on his heart and he likely suffered a heart attack as a result.
We will be holding services in both Greenville NC and Monterey CA, the details for which will be posted as soon as they are finalized. I will be making my social media public for the time being so that anyone may contact me with questions. I am also requesting that anyone with photos or stories of Joseph to share please reach out to me directly to aid in my writing of his eulogy, obituary, and service details. We politely request that his children not be contacted directly so that I and his ex-wife, Shanae, may handle their adjustment and such at this time. All communication with them should go through us as their mothers. He had three children Isaiah (15), Amiyah(10), and Caiden (3). His mother, Annette, his sister, Tiffany, Shanae, and I will be handling most of the service arrangements. If anyone has questions or concerns, please reach out. Thank you all for loving Joseph so fully and offering all of your support and condolences.
This go fund me was requested to be made by his many friends and colleges. These funds will be used for travel expenses for his family between home and the services. any funds left after that will be split evenly between the trusts for his three kids.
