Help Leonardo beat cancer
Donation protected
My name is Leonardo. On the night of November 25, 2021, I was about to get to work when I suddenly felt a sharp stabbing pain on the left side of my body that rendered me immobile. The slightest movement caused my body an excruciating pain I asked my wife to call 911 and on that night I was rushed to the Hospital. I was discharged the next day advised that I get a series of tests done and was referred to an oncologist. On December 16th, 2021, I was diagnosed with Malignant Diffused Large B-Cell Lymphoma; I am 51 years old.
Although the chances of getting this kind of cancer is not rare, I have never thought that I would get it as any other cancer patient would have thought.
Currently, I have finished two sets of chemotherapy which consists of 6 cycles and 3 cycles respectively, but unluckily, the chemotherapy didn’t give me favourable results, the cancer is still there. My further treatment plan consists of a procedure called CAR-T cell therapy which will be done in Toronto which is a 2-hour drive from home (I live in Trenton).
The next stage of treatment will require me to be close to the hospital in Toronto for at least a month. I will need to be closely monitored for side effects of the procedure which could be fatal by chance. Because of this my wife will need to be out of work to be with me during this time. I have been out of work since November of last year, which means both me and my wife will be out of work. Also my recovery after the treatment will last for another six months at least hoping I can get back to work after that.
No one could have prepared me and my wife for the physical and mental toll cancer would have on us. It has already been the most brutal battle we’ve ever faced, and the challenges that lie ahead will be even more difficult. Being sick is expensive. Multiple trips to the hospital in many different cities, imaging, anti-medics, and other support tools, rapidly accumulated my costs.
Cancer comes with pain and suffering and many emotional burdens. Not having to think so much about my finances would alleviate one of those burdens. Thank you for your contribution!!
God Bless!!!
