Three years ago I (Joey Busuttil) contracted a neurological condition called vasculitis. Due to this condition i lost the ability to walk as my muscles and nerves stopped working on the left side of my body. Experiencing extremely tiredness and deterioration of my muscles, my life changed dramatically. Needing to move in with my family for medical support, needing hospital visits weekly and utilising a neurology team has been a long and slow adjustment.
Unable to work full time it has been very hard on me financially over the last three years. The cost of medical appointments and rehabilitation has been overwhelming. I have been able to manage these expenses using my savings and some private health insurance. Unfortunately I now find myself exhausting these avenues.
As my physical rehabilitation appointments triple every week, I am finding it difficult to cover all my expenses. Physical therapy, chiropractor visits, Accupuncture, clinical massage, water rehabilitation and a personal physiotherapist. All assisting me to regain my ability to walk/ move effectively again. To be able to learn to climb stairs, get myself off the floor and just walk without pain every day is something I aim towards. To rebuild my muscles and nerves takes time and constant work. It’s a daily process which is unfortunately expensive.
I am not one to ask for HELP but I actually really need to. I have tried really hard to cover these expenses myself but the costs have just become overwhelming on top of everyday expenses. I feel embarrassed asking but I have learned over the last three years that if you can’t ask then you may not get what you need. I really really want to regain my life again. To do that I need to ask for some help. Unfortunately I am not covered under any government funded assistance and I don’t qualify to get any disability payments.
I really need help from a qualified medical team daily. I need help to pay them and to cover some of my past medical expenses. I have been blessed with some help from family and friends to date, but I now need to ask you to help if you can. If you can help in anyway it would really really help me to pay for some of my medical bills moving forward.
