If you know Kodiak Greenwood then you know how much he hates the idea of asking for help but that, unfortunately, is precisely what he needs right now. One of the finest young photographers in the game, Greenwood was amongst the hardest hit by the Pfeiffer Fire which ravaged his beloved hometown of Big Sur on December 16th, 2013. Pictured above in the smoldering aftermath of the devastation, Kodi lost virtually everything he owned in the inferno.
Stuck out of state when the fateful flames came, Greenwood returned home to little more than scorched earth and a long road to recovery. The fire destroyed all of his professional photographic equipment (estimated to be at least $50,000), much of his archives, his clothing, his travel gear, scores of family heirlooms, and so much more. The list of lost is unfathomable.
A Big Sur native who has helped fight several fires for other people over the years, most notably that heroic time on Apple Pie Ridge in 2008, found himself and his world on the wrong side of the fire wall this time around.
