We Owe Theo
Hi, my name is Vicky and I have been a horse lover since I could walk. I just recently bought a farm and decided to take the leap by getting my first horse—excuse me, mini horse, Theo.
I rescued him from a kill pen and was told he had an eye injury, but the extent of the injury was unknown. Upon his arrival late last night, I could tell it was much worse than originally expected.
Theo likely sustained this injury due to being in poor, cramped, filthy, and stressful conditions. When mini horses are in kill pens, it is not uncommon for them to be injured due to being in small spaces with regular sized horses. They get kicked, trampled, slammed into walls, etc. because of this.
The vet is able to come out tomorrow (1/13/23) to see him and we will get an idea of the treatment he will need. He may lose his sight and could even lose his eye all together.
Please consider donating any amount toward his veterinary care so we can get his eye on the mend ASAP. I will provide exact costs after the visit tomorrow. Any funds received that exceed his bill will be donated to the rescue he came from to help reduce other horses bail amounts so they can get to their forever home.
My goal in raising these funds is so we can rescue more like Theo in the future.
