Héctor Lugo, un extraordinario hijo, esposo, padre, deportista, emprendedor y amigo, que con su ejemplo ha impactado a muchas personas a lo largo de su vida. Una persona con un gran sentido del humor, siempre positivo y tratando en todo momento de ayudar a los demás.
Desafortunadamente la vida le encontró con un gran desafío. En Noviembre de 2015 se le diagnosticó con la enfermedad de Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (enfermedad también conocida por sus iniciales de “ELA”, o enfermedad de "Lou Gehring"). Desde el inicio de la enfermedad Héctor ha tomado y aceptado esto como un reto de vida, aplicando su legacia de: “En todo momento hay que dar el 110%”. Desde el inicio de la enfermedad Héctor ha recibido tratamiento médico siendo su principal medicamento el Riluzol y Nuedexta. Su familia ha estado a su lado, luchando al 110%, viendo esto con actitud positiva.
Actualmente se ha descubierto un nuevo medicamento en contra de esta enfermedad. El medicamento es llamado Edaravone. Sin embargo, dicho medicamento tienen un coste mucho muy elevado.
El objetivo de esta campaña es el poder recaudar fondos para que Héctor pueda obtener, tanto el medicamento de Edaravone como continuar con el tratamiento de Nuedexta. Los dos medicamentos ayudarán a Héctor en frenar la velocidad en la que esta terrible enfermedad va evolucionando. La meta es cubrir los costes de estos dos medicamentos durante un periodo de un año. Los fondos se buscan recaudar a lo largo del verano, teniendo como fin de la campaña el 1 de Octubre. Queremos recaudar los fondos lo antes posible ya que el ELA es una enfermedad que avanza rápido. Por tal motivo, cuanto antes pueda recibir este tratamiento, mejor.
Actualmente Héctor se encuentra estable. Sin embargo, en los tres años en los que la enfermedad ha evolucionado Héctor a perdido movilidad en pies, piernas, brazos, y manos. El se puede comunicar con un ordenador, mismo que utiliza para transmitir el hecho de que "Nunca se va a dar por vencido, y siempre estará dando el 110%".

In November 2015, he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (a disease also known by his initials "ALS" or "Lou Gehring" disease). Since the beginning of the disease Hector has taken and accepted this as a life challenge, applying his legacy of: "At all times you have to give 110%". Hector has received medical treatment with Riluzol and Nuedexta. Both of these medicines are his main treatment. His family has been by his side, fighting at 110% with a positive attitude.
A new drug against this disease has now been discovered. The medication is called Edaravone. However, this medication has a very high cost.
The objective of this campaign is to raise funds so that Hector can obtain both the Edaravone medication and continue the Nuedexta treatment. The two medications will help Hector to slow the speed at which this terrible disease evolves. The goal is to cover the costs of these two drugs for a period of one year. The funds are to be collected throughout the summer, with the end of the campaign on October 1. We want to raise the funds as soon as possible because the ALS is a rapidly advancing disease. For this reason, the sooner he can receive this treatment, the better.
Hector is currently stable. However, in the three years in which the disease has evolved Hector has lost mobility in feet, legs, arms, and hands. He can communicate with a computer, which he uses to convey the fact that "He will never give up, and will always be giving 110%".
