WWHSTA founding board member (Emeritus) Jeff “LeChef” Edwards has recently been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. This explains many of the recent symptoms he's been experiencing that's made it challenging for him to get around and he has not been able to work for some time. He has surgery scheduled in Toronto this month, which will incur unforseen expenses for travel, accommodation and medication, so some extra support is required. The WWHSTA board is asking our membership to help a fellow skier in a time of need. Please make a donation to support LeChef’s treatment, travel and recovery.
For the benefit of newer members, it is probably safe to say the WWHSTA would not be the organization it is today without LeChef’s efforts. His exploration of Nickle Peak, other areas on the Powder Peaks Road and Tasso Highlands planted seeds for the development of a dedicated backcountry ski group in the Muskoka/Almaguin region. LeChef brought a forester’s eye to our glading days, and helped us learn to glade sustainably and responsibly. Twigfest was his brainchild and he has put in countless volunteer hours prepping the site for that event over the years. His gonzo skiing style and distinctive fashion sense always makes a ski day more interesting and enjoyable. He is a great ski partner and a hard guy to keep up with. Let’s help get him back on the snow.
