Hello, my name is Tevin Artnell Campbell. I am a senior in my last semester at SUNY Potsdam University. I am raising money in order to pay my tuition and rent. I need the money as soon as possible as the semester begins the 24th of January.
This is very hard for me to come out and ask for help like this. I am at the finish line of a very long journey in education. I was born in Jamaica and came to the United States when I was 9. Since I was born my mother and I struggled and worked very hard for everything we have. I have been in college for three and a half years and every year my mother worked hard and paid the twenty-thousand-dollar tuition out of pocket every year. With no help from the government just hard work. While taking care of my little brother and sister with my step dad, along with a plethora of bills.
This past year we encountered even more hardships and my mother is no longer working at the moment. So we are not able to pay the tuition for my spring semester at Potsdam University. I am also not a citizen so I do not qualify for any federal aid. My mother and I have been doing it on our own. That is no longer possible.
It will mean so much to me to be able to return to school and finish my degree. I want to make all the educators that have invested and helped me along the way proud. I do not want the seventy thousand dollars my mother has paid to go to waste. When I am only 14 credits away from completing my degree. I also want to return and lead my Rugby team to a successful season as their captain. Most importantly I want to graduate with my degree in Sociology and Criminal justice so I can help people.
I mention that it is extremely hard for me to ask for help. But I figured if I want to help people and make the world a better place. How can I expect people to share their problems with me, if I cannot do something as simple as asking for help. So I will be eternally grateful for any help anyone can offer and I thank you ahead of time.
