Over the last 3 years my incredible brother in law, Alan Rogers, was diagnosed with and has been fighting neck, lung and bone cancer.  For those of you that know him, he is an EXTRAORDINARY human being.  He is loving, caring, smart, cheerful, unbelievably strong and always puts his family and friends first. The battle started with his heart attack in 2016, 56 day stay in hospital following his triple bypass in 2017, diagnosed with throat cancer last year and its chemotherapy and radiation. He just got out of the hospital in June after 42 days in 2 hospitals diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and neurogenic orthostatic hypotension, meaning his vegus nerve and baroreceptors are not regulating his blood pressure properly and they cannot diagnose the cause. Standing on his own alone is a task and he can't do this alone. 

Since he was diagnosed he has met with many doctors, has had many procedures, blood work, poked, prodded, ct scans, echocardiograms, PET scans, chemotherapy, radiation, etc. Then on Thursday July 9th just after his 50th birthday, we received the worst news to date. The doctors have informed us that his time is precious as well as fleeting and limited with us on this earth. I can't even describe the heavy heart I feel just writing this. It is very difficult to keep it together. 

As we all know, medical expenses pile up very quickly and due to this illness he has been unable to work, go outside for any length of period of time, enjoy a day with his loving family or simply enjoy a comfortable day period. My sister, Nicki's income is little due to the full time care. The only care company covered under insurance is overbooked due to COVID.  Although we are trying everything we can to keep him as comfortable as possible including his chemotherapy, we are running out of finances and options. 
Most of the medical expenses are not going to be covered by insurance like gas, lodging and other travel obligations.  Which has already incurred several thousands of dollars over the last few years. This is not something we would ever consider doing, except we have burned through all cash and savings and are out of options. Anything helps! My sister, Nicki has been an amazing wife and a full time care giver for months and months and has not been able to work her full time obligations at her job and is running out of options there as well. These funds will also assist with the upcoming expenses for the unforeseen future over his next precious months. 

Alan has a heart of gold and would do anything to help out any one of us in our time of need.  So I'm asking at this vulnerable time in his life that we rally behind him as he takes on this fight.  Every penny and every prayer counts.  A little goes along way and can help alleviate the stress of monetary issues.
